Poland’s viral humanoid robot roams streets, chasing boars and winning fans

A humanoid robot named Edward Warchocki has become Poland’s internet sensation, touring cities, chatting with passers-by, appearing on TV and even in parliament, and in one viral clip chasing a herd of wild boars. Created by Radosław Grzelaczyk and Bartosz Idzik after robotics training in China, Edward wears a backpack and a diamond Rolex and runs on a mix of local AI and broader information sources, navigates with a lidar scanner, and can operate autonomously or be remotely controlled for safety. The project has around 150 videos in 45 days and more than 500 million views, underscoring Poland’s rapid embrace of humanoid robotics in everyday life.
