Dolphin's Deluge Triggers Mass Evacuations Across East China

More than a million people were evacuated across eastern China as Typhoon Dolphin made landfall and dumped record rainfall, with Shanghai recording about 313mm in 24 hours (nearly 400mm at another station) and Wenzhou moving hundreds of thousands to shelters. Airports canceled hundreds of flights and authorities warned of ongoing flood and landslide risks as the storm weakened to a tropical storm but continued northward across several provinces; forecast rainfall of 200–400mm in the coming days. The system also spurred heat in Hong Kong and affected Taiwan, Okinawa and the Philippines.
