The weather observatory issued a "red" signal, indicating that heavy rain exceeding 50 millimeters per hour is falling and likely to continue, leading to flash floods and watercourse flooding. The city's stock market will remain open unless the highest "black" signal is issued. This comes as Hong Kong is still recovering from the damage caused by recent torrential rain linked to Typhoon Haikui.
