Italy's Heat Wave Crisis: Hospitals Overwhelmed and Red Alerts Issued

Italy is currently experiencing a "week of hell" with 23 cities facing extreme heat and red alerts, putting all residents at risk. Rome recorded a record-high temperature of 107.2 degrees Fahrenheit, while temperatures on the islands of Sardinia and Sicily are expected to reach near 117 degrees. Sicily recently set a new European record with a temperature of 119.8 degrees. Red alerts are also in effect in parts of Spain, Greece, and the Balkans. Relief is expected to come on Thursday, but the suffocating heat and lack of escape are causing distress for residents.
