2022 Sees Over 250 Million People Suffering from Severe Hunger.

More than 258 million people across 58 countries faced severe hunger in 2022, the highest rate of food insecurity in the last seven years, according to a new United Nations-led report. Fallout from Russia’s war in Ukraine, local conflict, climate change and the economic impacts of COVID-19 were the major drivers of hunger. The report projects that up to 153.3 million people of the analyzed population will experience high levels of acute food insecurity in 2023.
