China Suspends Top General Amid Corruption Probe

China has suspended Miao Hua, a top military official, amid a crackdown on corruption within the armed forces. Miao, who is part of the Central Military Commission, is under investigation for "serious violations of discipline," a term often used to denote corruption. This move is part of President Xi Jinping's broader anti-corruption campaign, which has already led to the removal of nearly 20 military and defense industry officials this year. The Chinese government has also dismissed reports of an investigation into Defense Minister Dong Jun as "slanderous."
