"France conducts emergency evacuation of citizens from Niger amid escalating crisis"

The first evacuation flight from Niger, carrying mostly French and European people, has landed in Paris. Around 600 French nationals out of the approximately 1,200 registered in Niger have requested to be evacuated. The land and air borders between Niger and five neighboring countries have also been reopened. Military chiefs of the West African bloc ECOWAS will meet to discuss the coup in Niger, while France and the European Union have suspended security cooperation and financial aid to Niger.
