Indonesia expands aerial firefighting as regional haze spreads

Indonesia is boosting its wildfire response by adding 35 foreign-registered aircraft for water-bombing and patrols and by expanding cloud-seeding efforts (30 aircraft and 22 helicopters) to spark rain, as hazy conditions spread toward Malaysia. The crackdown on fires comes with cross-border cooperation and warnings of deteriorating air quality, including closed schools in Sarawak, while authorities expect the dry season to persist.
