"Breakthrough: Negotiators Close to Securing Release of Hamas Hostages"

Negotiators are reportedly getting closer to reaching an agreement with Hamas to release an initial 50 hostages in exchange for Israel allowing in more aid, including fuel. The talks, brokered with the help of the U.S. and Qatar, have narrowed many areas of difference, but there is no firm deal yet. The proposed agreement involves a limited pause in fighting for four days, during which 50 hostages would be released, followed by a second release of around 20-25 hostages. The remaining sticking points include logistical matters and demands for accounting of captives held by Hamas and other militant groups. The U.S. remains confident in its assessment that hostages were held in al-Shifa hospital, but Israel claims they were taken out.
