Australian man arrested over Pattaya case after Thai teen found in suitcase
An Australian man in his 40s, Simon Peter Carman, was arrested at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport and charged with murder, concealment of a body, moving or destroying a body, and taking a minor for sexual purposes after police linked him to the death of a 17-year-old Thai girl whose body was found in a suitcase in Pattaya. CCTV showed him entering a condominium with the girl, then carrying a suitcase to a grassy area near a railway line on a motorcycle. He was arrested as he prepared to fly back to Australia. The victim’s family expressed devastation and called for harsh punishment, and a court date has not yet been announced.
