Burry warns of 1987-style crash while keeping Nvidia shorts
Hedge fund investor Michael Burry warned in a Substack note that the S&P 500’s record highs could precede a sharp market drop reminiscent of 1987, while continuing to hold short positions in Nvidia and several other names (including the iShares Semiconductor ETF, Micron, Caterpillar, Palantir, Tesla and Applied Materials). Nvidia is the only short currently in the red, and he says he would close out positions if any trade moves against him. Burry remains skeptical of the AI hype, arguing the AI infrastructure boom could buckle as funding conditions tighten.
