Microsoft's Windows 11 Insider Preview now lets you format FAT32 drives up to 2 TB with the stock tools, ending the old 32 GB GUI limit. The 32 GB cap was a 30-year-old UI decision rather than a FAT32 spec limit; larger volumes have been possible via other tools previously. FAT32 still imposes a 4 GB file-size limit and is not ideal for large HD or 4K video files.
GALAX has released its fastest SSD, the HOF Extreme 50 PCIe Gen5 with a 2 TB capacity and active-cooling solution. The 2 TB variant is available for $350 US and has read and write speeds of 10,000 MB/s and 9500 MB/s, respectively. The SSD utilizes a Phison PS5026-E26 controller and 232-layer 3D TLC NAND Flash memory. The active cooling solution ensures continuous and efficient SSD operation at 40-45C. The GALAX HOF SSD lineup is expected to get up to 12 GB/s variants in the future.
