Minecraft Movie Sequel Rebrands as A Minecraft Movie Squared, Heading to Theaters in 2027

The Hollywood Reporter reveals the Minecraft movie sequel has been renamed A Minecraft Movie Squared, with Jared Hess returning to direct and Chris Galletta co-writing. Producers include Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Roy Lee, Eric McLeod, Kayleen Walters, Torfi Frans Ólafsson, and Jason Momoa. Original stars Jack Black, Jason Momoa, Sebastian Hansen, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks and Jennifer Coolidge return, with Kirsten Dunst joining the cast. A Minecraft Movie Squared is set for a July 23, 2027 theatrical release, following the first film’s $957.8 million global gross and mixed reviews.
