Mayday at Heathrow: BA flight passenger recalls tense, fear-filled landing
On a British Airways Airbus A320 from Dusseldorf, a data-system failure triggered a stall warning on approach to Heathrow, and the crew upgraded the alert to mayday after entering alternate flight law with limited cockpit communication. Passengers, including one who cried out, “I don’t want to die,” endured a tense holding pattern before a safe landing as emergency services awaited on the tarmac. The incident is under investigation by the AAIB with BEA assistance, and BA is cooperating.
