Mark Cuban to Sell Majority Stake in Mavericks to Adelson Family
Mark Cuban has agreed to sell a majority stake in the Dallas Mavericks to Miriam Adelson and her family, pending approval from the NBA's board of governors. Cuban will retain an ownership stake and control over basketball operations. The sale is estimated to be in the range of $3.5 billion. The Adelson family, major shareholders in Las Vegas Sands, plans to fund the purchase by selling $2 billion worth of stock. The Mavericks have been transformed under Cuban's ownership, winning their first championship in 2011 and making the playoffs in 18 of the past 23 seasons.
