49ers QB Rourke Discharged After Preseason Rib Injury
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Kurtis Rourke was released from the hospital on Thursday night after suffering a rib injury during the team's preseason opener against the Tennessee Titans. Rourke, a seventh-round pick who missed his rookie season recovering from a torn ACL, completed 12 of 14 passes for 101 yards before exiting the game due to breathing difficulties. Head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that initial X-rays showed no fracture and that the injury is not considered serious. Rourke’s performance had positioned him as a strong candidate for the third-string quarterback role, but his injury forced backup Adrian Martinez to play the remainder of the game.
