A Doctor's Push for Africa to Lead Its Ebola Response
Dr. Jean Kaseya, director-general of the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is urging African presidents to take financial and political ownership of the Ebola response as Western donors shrink support. Traveling across the continent, he has pressed leaders to assume sovereignty over outbreak management, including hosting Congolese and South African presidents at a lunch to discuss the eastern Congo epidemic.
