Afterworld aims to make Paradox’s grand strategy feel approachable in a post-apocalyptic North America
This hands-on preview argues Afterworld could finally make Paradox’s signature grand strategy approachable: you start with a selectable origin, scout a procedurally generated map, and unlock idea-driven mechanics that gradually reveal new systems as you explore. Bands with needs and values shape governance, diplomacy, and warfare, while the game emphasizes a mobile, flexible rhythm and “society-crafting” over information overload. The early look left the reviewer excited to play more and hopeful it could be Paradox’s most approachable grand strategy yet.
