Frankfurt Airport Malaria Cluster Claims Third Life, Extending to Local Residents
A third person has died from malaria in a cluster linked to Frankfurt Airport, bringing the total fatalities to three since July. The latest case involves a resident of the Schwanheim district, not an airport worker, marking the first time the outbreak has affected people living near the airport rather than just staff. Health officials believe the disease was transmitted by mosquitoes imported from endemic regions via aircraft, as the victims had no travel history to malaria zones.
