Sharpton leads eulogy as Madison confronts Corey Ruiz police shooting
At a Madison funeral for Corey Ruiz, a 38-year-old Black man fatally shot by a city officer, Rev. Al Sharpton delivered the eulogy as activists demand accountability. The Wisconsin DOJ is investigating the shooting and four officers are on leave; the shooter was identified as Kiel Baitinger-Peterson, who was reportedly injured after Ruiz allegedly pulled a knife during an attempted arrest. The case followed days of protests and an encampment near the Capitol that was cleared, with an independent autopsy results expected.
