Caddie Walks Off Mid-Round as Tosti Finishes with Help of a Fan at Biltmore Championship

In the first round of the Biltmore Championship in Asheville, Alejandro Tosti’s caddie Cliff Ellis walked off at the ninth hole. Tosti ended with a 1-over 72 after reportedly borrowing a fan from the gallery to carry his bag, later joking that Ellis couldn’t keep up with eight pars in a row. The event adds to Tosti’s history of on-course clashes and past suspension on the Korn Ferry Tour.

Argentine pro Alejandro Tosti faced a bizarre disruption when his caddie, Cliff Ellis, quit mid-round at the Biltmore Championship Asheville, leaving the bag on the 18th hole as Tosti finished with a 1-over 72; the incident adds to a pattern of fiery on-course conduct for Tosti, who has a history of clashes with caddies and a viral bib incident earlier this year, and has been described by peers as having a Jekyll/Hyde demeanor.
