Progressive DSA candidate Nixon shocks Florida Senate primary
Democratic Socialist Angie Nixon, a Florida state representative, won the Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate in Florida over fundraising powerhouse Alexander Vindman, setting up a November contest against Republican incumbent Ashley Moody. Nixon, an outspoken critic of DeSantis who has faced misdemeanor charges from a protest, ran with far less money than Vindman, who focused on Moody and did not debate Nixon.
