Rosatom chief blames Kyiv for deadly strike on Zaporizhzhia fuel trucks
Alexei Likhachev, head of Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom, accused Ukraine of deliberately targeting diesel fuel trucks near the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant on Friday. He stated that the strikes killed two Russian servicemen and injured others, claiming the attacks endangered the safety of Europe’s largest nuclear facility. Likhachev emphasized that the fuel is critical for cooling reactors when external power links fail, noting that both links were down for nearly three weeks in late summer. While Ukraine demands Russia abandon the plant, Moscow rejects this, and the International Atomic Energy Agency continues to mediate disputes and facilitate repairs.
