Ukraine Commander Criticizes 'Thin-Armoured' French Tanks for Attacks
A Ukrainian battalion commander has criticized the French AMX-10 RC infantry fighting vehicles, describing them as "impractical" for front-line attacks due to their thin armor. He cited a case where a crew died when the vehicle was hit by artillery shelling, and mentioned issues with gear boxes breaking down. The commander compared the AMX-10 unfavorably to MRAP-type armored vehicles like the American Oshkosh and British Husky, which offer better protection. Open-source intelligence website Oryx has recorded three losses of AMX-10 tanks in Ukraine.
