Ukrainian Marine Corps' AMX-10RC Recon Vehicles Prove Ineffective Against Russian Defenses.
The Ukrainian marine corps' AMX-10RC reconnaissance vehicles, donated by France, were damaged during a frontal assault on Russian defenses in southern Donetsk Oblast. The thin armor on the vehicles was penetrated by Russian artillery fragments. The 37th Marine Brigade eventually moved the damaged vehicles to the back of the assault force, but two were abandoned and it is unclear if they have been recovered for repair. Despite the AMX-10RC's attributes, the brigade's success came despite the vehicles, not because of them. Ukraine's southern counteroffensive is in its second week, with fewer than half of its available forces committed so far.
