Eight-Hour Cosmetic Surgery Ends in Death for 51-Year-Old Brazilian
A 51-year-old Brazilian businesswoman, Andreia Vieira Gaspar, died hours after an eight-hour sequence of facial/neck cosmetic procedures (including a deep-plane facelift, eyelid lift, brow lift, neck liposuction, and genioplasty with nanofat injections) at Hospital Ankar in Goiânia. The cause of death was listed as acute thrombosis and pulmonary infarction. Her family said she suffered severe pain after leaving the hospital, and they raised concerns about hospital resources. Goiás prosecutors have opened an investigation into possible involuntary manslaughter. The hospital and its doctors maintenance that the care provided was appropriate.
