Data center controversy impacts Prince William County election results.
Deshundra Jefferson, a political strategist and former news reporter, won the Democratic primary for county board chair, defeating incumbent Ann Wheeler. Jefferson's win was attributed to her focus on issues such as overdevelopment and taxes, particularly the proliferation of data centers in western Prince William County. She opposes the Prince William Digital Gateway and other proposed data center projects, including the controversial Devlin Technology Park. Jefferson also wants to expand access to affordable housing and start a summer jobs program for at-risk teens and young adults.
