Anna Murdoch-Mann, writer and former News Corp director, has died at 81 in Palm Beach, Florida. Born Anna Torv in Glasgow, she was Rupert Murdoch’s wife for 31 years, mother to Elisabeth, James and Lachlan, and a philanthropist who served on hospital boards; she wrote several novels, including Family Business, and was made a Dame of the Order of St Gregory in 1998.
Anna Murdoch-Mann, author and philanthropist and former wife of Rupert Murdoch, died at 81 at her Palm Beach, Florida home. She helped shape News Corp during their 31-year marriage and had three children, including Lachlan, who now chairs the company; after their split Rupert remarried Wendi Deng and Murdoch-Mann was briefly removed from the News Corp board. She later remarried, authored three novels, and was active in philanthropy and Catholic charitable work.
