Jupiter-bound spacecraft faces antenna malfunction.
Europe's JUICE spacecraft, which is on a mission to study Jupiter's icy moons and search for signs of habitable conditions for life, is facing an antenna glitch. The spacecraft's Radar for Icy Moons Exploration (RIME) antenna is jammed in its mounting bracket, but engineers are working on various options to free it up. Assuming the 52-foot antenna unjams, it will allow JUICE to see as far as 20 feet underneath Jupiter moons like Ganymede or Europa, which have shown signs of spewing water into space, suggesting the ice has exposure to the outside environment.
