
White Sox Anthem Singer Collapses on Field, Taken to Hospital
During pregame on Jackie Robinson Day in Chicago, longtime White Sox anthem singer Gerald Chaney collapsed on the field while performing 'Lift Every Voice and Sing,' was treated by EMTs and taken to the hospital as the game against the Rays was delayed about 12 minutes. Chaney, a veteran anthem performer and Chicago Public Schools teacher, has long been associated with multiple teams and was described by the White Sox as alert and receiving further treatment.
