Controversy Surrounds Dodgers' Invitation to Drag Queen Nuns for Pride Night
The Archdiocese of Los Angeles has criticized the Los Angeles Dodgers for honoring the L.A. Chapter of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a group that satirizes the Catholic faith, during a June 16 LGBTQ+ Pride Night game. The Dodgers initially backed down from their plans after criticism from Catholic advocacy groups and U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Florida, but later reversed course and issued an apology and a new invitation to the Sisters. Catholic advocacy groups have vowed to launch a “barrage” of advertising against the team, and the Catholic League has called for a boycott of the event.
