Massive Anti-Government Protests Sweep Poland
Hundreds of thousands of Poles marched in Warsaw and other cities across the country to protest against the right-wing government, which they accuse of eroding democratic norms and violating the constitution. The march was led by the opposition party, and former President Lech Walesa, the leader of the Solidarity movement, also joined. Critics have warned that the fall election might not be fair, and the ruling Law and Justice party has been accused of reversing many of the achievements made since Poland emerged from communist rule in 1989.
