"Bacterial Defences: Unveiling the Expanding Language"

A recent study published in Nature has discovered a new class of chemical messenger called SAM-AMP, formed by linking molecules of ATP and S-adenosyl methionine (SAM), which is used by bacterial cells as a defense system to detect and inhibit viral replication. This finding expands the chemical "language" of antiviral immunity and adds to the diverse array of signaling molecules involved in cellular defense pathways.
