Pope's delegate initiates discussions to resolve liturgical dispute in India
Pope Francis has appointed Archbishop-Bishop Cyril Vasil’ as a delegate to resolve a long-standing liturgical dispute in the Syro-Malabar Church in India. The controversy revolves around the direction the priest should face during the liturgy. Vasil’, an expert in canon law of the Eastern Churches, has been given special faculties to ensure the implementation of the approved liturgical reform. The Syro-Malabar Church is one of the 23 autonomous Eastern Catholic Churches in communion with Rome and has over 4 million members worldwide.
