NPS Warns Trump's DC Arch Could Harm Historic Monuments
The National Park Service warns that the proposed 250-foot Trump arch in downtown Washington DC could adversely affect nearby historic properties and iconic sightlines linking Arlington House, the Arlington Memorial Bridge, and the Lincoln Memorial, potentially requiring mitigation measures and education programs; the administration intends to move forward with the project despite concerns, noting about 37 nearby sites could be affected and that approvals have been granted by the US Commission on Fine Arts and preliminary clearance from the National Capital Planning Commission, while preservationists continue to raise objections.
