President Trump appointed Adam Telle as acting Army secretary, bypassing the standard succession line to replace Dan Driscoll. The move follows Driscoll's resignation amid clashes with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and occurs while the U.S. manages significant military operations in the Middle East.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has removed at least six Army officers from a two-star general promotion list, continuing a pattern of blocking dozens of peer-selected officers. Critics argue these actions create a leadership vacuum and target minority officers, while the Pentagon defends the moves as merit-based. This personnel turmoil coincides with formal military pushback against Hegseth's Iran war strategy and a broader crisis of confidence in the Department of Defense.
