The body of singer Oliver Tree Nickell was returned to California after a June 14 helicopter crash in Brazil that killed six people. Oliver Tree said on the Zach Sang Show that, when he dies, his wealth should go to artists rather than his family, and he envisaged a committee to allocate funds annually and a foundation called Dr. Oliver Tree’s Art Grants for Baby Geniuses. He warned there wouldn’t be a silver spoon for relatives and stressed funds should fund art-related pursuits rather than education or buying equipment. The remarks came weeks before his death in a Rio de Janeiro helicopter crash that killed six people, including Tree, as he was on a world tour and had shows scheduled, including one in Lisbon.
