WhCD shooter called himself a 'friendly federal assassin' before the attack
Cole Tomas Allen, 31, of California, allegedly opened fire at the White House correspondents’ dinner after sending a note to family in which he called himself a “friendly federal assassin.” He traveled from outside Los Angeles to D.C. via train, had booked a hotel near the Washington Hilton weeks in advance, and railed against Trump administration policies. He is expected to face federal charges including assaulting federal officers and using a firearm during a crime of violence.
