Ai Ogura won his first MotoGP race at the Dutch TT in Assen, edging Raul Fernandez and Jorge Martin after Marco Bezzecchi crashed out while leading; Martin now leads the World Championship with Ogura 25 points adrift.
Marco Bezzecchi was happy with his second-place finish at the Dutch MotoGP despite struggling with the front temperature and pressure. He was scared of losing the podium but managed to hold on. Bezzecchi secured the sprint race victory, took pole position, and topped all three practice sessions. He is now one point behind second place in the championship.
MotoGP riders have agreed that the track limits at Assen are easy to overstep, following Brad Binder's demotion from third to fifth in the sprint race due to a minor infringement. Turn 8 and the last corner are the most challenging spots for track limits, with the fast left-hander at Turn 14 also posing a potential problem. Despite the difficulty, riders must adapt to the track's characteristics. Luca Marini also received a penalty for taking a shortcut at the final chicane.
Marco Bezzecchi set a new all-time lap record to become the 13th different polesitter in the last 13 outings in Assen, with Pecco Bagnaia and Luca Marini completing an all-Ducati front row. Fabio Quartararo settled for fourth, in his first second row start of the season.
