Oakland County outlines repair plan after 42-inch water main burst
Oakland County officials outlined a rough repair timeline for a 42-inch water main burst in Auburn Hills on May 10 (first detected May 6). A repaired section was in place by about 6 p.m. May 11, with water pressure restored by 2 a.m. May 12; flushing is expected through Thursday and water testing by Sunday or Monday, with no completion date yet. Restrictions remain: the northern part of Auburn Hills is under a boil-water advisory, while the southern area and parts of Orion Township face emergency-use restrictions; Orion’s schools are closed through May 14 and car washes remain closed, while some low-water-use restaurants may operate. A restaurant-owner briefing is set for 1 p.m.
