Code Leaks Reveal Apple Testing Four-Speaker HomePod Surround and Party Mode
Apple is testing a four-speaker HomePod surround system and a new 'Party Mode' for stereo pairs, according to code found in audioOS 27 beta 8. The surround setup uses four second-generation HomePods with distinct front and rear processing, while Party Mode spreads sound evenly across a room. A new 'Forklift' configuration pairs two full-size HomePods with an unidentified device, possibly a future HomePod mini. These features are not yet available in the Home app or Apple TV.
