The Daily Show released a 10-minute YouTube compilation of audition tapes from past and present hosts and correspondents—featuring John Oliver, Michael Che, Samantha Bee and others—to mark the show’s 30th anniversary and give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at early auditions.
Director James Gunn has started watching audition tapes for the main roles in his upcoming film Superman: Legacy, including Clark Kent, Lois Lane, and Lex Luthor. Actors such as Nicholas Hoult, David Corenswet, Jacob Elordi, and Andrew Richardson are in the mix for the Superman role, while Emma Mackey, Rachel Brosnahan, and Samara Weaving are among those testing for Lois Lane. Gunn has been checking with some A-list names for the role of Lex Luthor, but one role that has been testing is for a part simply labeled "Apex," which could hint at a potential multiverse situation. A decision on casting is not expected for some time.
