"Massive Multinational Military Exercise in Australia Sends Strong Message to China"

The major multinational military exercise, Talisman Sabre, launched in Australia with the participation of 13 nations and over 30,000 military personnel, sends a message to China that America's allies are united in defending their security and democratic values, according to U.S. Navy Secretary Carlos Del Toro. The exercise aims to enhance cooperation and interoperability among the participating countries' defense forces. Del Toro and his Australian counterpart, Richard Marles, also expressed optimism about the progress of the AUKUS deal, which will provide Australia with U.S. nuclear-powered submarines.

US approves sale of 220 Tomahawk missiles to Australia under Aukus.

The US State Department has approved Australia's request to buy up to 220 long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles to arm its navy ships and the US nuclear-powered submarines it agreed to buy this week. The acquisition is part of the AUKUS deal between the US, Australia, and the United Kingdom, a three-way pact to share technology and resources to build a new fleet of nuclear-powered subs in the next two decades. The deal will cost as much as 1.3 billion Australian dollars ($895 million), including maintenance and logistical support.
