Texas Tech’s Austin Romaine Returns Two Interceptions for Touchdowns in 15 Seconds
Texas Tech linebacker Austin Romaine returned two interceptions for touchdowns within 15 seconds of the second quarter, helping the Red Raiders defeat Sam Houston State 49-14. The feat marked the first time since 2013 a player achieved consecutive pick-sixes on back-to-back plays. Despite a rough first half for the team, Romaine’s performance shifted the game's momentum, leading to a dominant second-half run. NFL draft analysts rank Romaine variably, with some labeling him a 'downhill thumper,' while head coach Joey McGuire praised his ability to play freely after transferring from Kansas State.
