"Stellantis Plant Closure and Union Vote: Impact on Milwaukee Auto Industry"
Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep, has reached an agreement with the United Auto Workers (UAW) that will result in the closure of the Mopar parts distribution facility in Milwaukee. As part of a consolidation plan, Stellantis will close smaller distribution facilities in Milwaukee, Chicago, and Marysville, MI, and establish a "Mopar Mega Hub" in Belvidere, IL. The Milwaukee facility, which employs approximately 100 UAW-represented workers, was on strike for over a month. The agreement includes pay increases and the ability for the company to close 19 facilities, while some workers will receive a 76% raise. The closure of the Milwaukee plant presents potential redevelopment opportunities for the site.
