AV Carts Recalled After Fatal Tip-Overs.

Luxor Workspaces is recalling 84,700 of its A/V carts, some sold as far back as the early 1980s, due to instability when loaded with heavy objects such as CRT TVs. Three children have died and one was seriously injured between 2006 and 2016 when the carts tipped over and landed on them. Consumers are urged to stop using the carts immediately, and Luxor is offering free repair kits that include metal ballast kits and warning labels. The recall is voluntary, and Luxor asserts that its carts have always been safe when used as intended and in accordance with operating instructions and warning labels.

Luxor Workspaces is recalling about 84,700 audiovisual carts that have been sold since at least the 1980s, after three children died and another was injured when the carts carrying TVs tipped over and fell on them. The recalled carts are three base models with at least 325 cart model numbers affected. The carts have been sold at Grainger, 123Stores and Amazon, and may be present in schools, daycares, churches and other places where children may be present. Consumers should request a free repair from Luxor and stop using the carts immediately.
