Amish Shah clinches Dem nomination in swing Arizona district
Former state Rep. Amish Shah won the crowded Democratic primary for Arizona’s 1st Congressional District, defeating an establishment-backed candidate and other well-funded rivals in a battleground seat that Trump carried narrowly in 2024. Shah will face Republican Jay Feely in November after Feely clinched the GOP nomination; the district around Phoenix includes Scottsdale and Paradise Valley and was open after Schweikert vacated the seat to run for governor.
