Scheffler’s back-nine meltdown dents 3M Open hopes
Scottie Scheffler was 9-under through 13 holes in Round 2 at the 3M Open before a water ball on the 14th led to a double bogey, then a 17th-hole bogey and a closing birdie for a 38 on the back nine (70 for the round) after a 65 opening. The late slip leaves him still in contention but with a tougher path to victory; he cited a sloppy 12th, a poor swing on 14, a bad break at 17, and stronger afternoon winds as factors. He plans to rest and will need to reproduce his hot early form over the weekend to have a chance.
