Russia Conducts Naval Drills in Baltic and Far East Seas
The BALTOPS 2023 Exercise, the premier maritime-focused annual exercise in the Baltic Region, has begun and will run from June 4-16. The exercise involves 20 participating nations, including Finland as a NATO ally for the first time in the exercise's 52-year history. The exercise will demonstrate the flexibility of maritime forces and include scenarios such as amphibious, gunnery, anti-submarine, air defense, and mine clearance operations. The exercise is led by U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa and U.S. Sixth Fleet and will be command-and-controlled by STRIKFORNATO.
