Nick Kurtz Breaks Barry Bonds’ Modern Walk Streak in A’s Win Over Royals
Athletics slugger Nick Kurtz drew his 19th consecutive walk to break Barry Bonds’ modern-era record, doing so in a 6-3 win over the Royals in Sacramento when he was intentionally walked by John Schreiber. Kurtz, the 2024 No. 4 pick and a former AL ROY/Silver Slugger, now sits tied for second on the single-season list at 19, behind Roy Cullenbine’s all-time 22; Bonds’ record remains the benchmark for overall walks, with Williams also at 19 in 1941. Kurtz has five homers in 19 games this season and a .963 OPS.
